Benefits
Raise Sunken Concrete
Save it, Don't Replace It
- Only takes a few hours.
- Immediate foot traffic.
- Less noise and equipment needed.
- A Fraction of replacement
cost.
- Landscaping not disturbed.
- Decorative concrete saved.
- Matches surroundings, unlike new concrete that doesn't match.
- Steps
are not a problem.
- Water drainage corrected.
- Can be done in any weather.
- Lasts as long as new construction.
The holes are carefully and strategically placed.
The proper material for the conditions is used in the hydraulic process.
Once patched the surface is ready for foot traffic.
Special Notes:
- We use BASECRETE, a proprietary mixture of rock and gravel mixed with a grout.
- When injected under pressure
(our machine can generate up to 600 psi of pressure) this material forms a base that is nearly impossible to compress.
- UDOT used a
similar mixture of material under the new construction on I-15 in both Weber and Davis Counties because it will stand up
to the heavy truck traffic.
- We recommend being leery of competitors using merely MUD as it will break down.
- These companies
are referred to as "Mudjackers" and usually don't offer warranties for a reason.
- We also recommend against companies using concrete.
Because of the current expense of concrete these companies usually inject only enough to put in some pressure resulting
in the "ant hill" or "traffic cone" effect noted below.
- In addition, concrete needs to be a certain consistency to maintain it's
integrity. When used in this process it must be watered down to flow through the smaller diameter nozzle which dramatically
changes it's integrity.
- We also recommend being leery of competitors who don't use construction grade equipment to inject
material under high pressure as these machines don't compact the material or fill the voids.
- Some operators use an
outside force to raise the slab and then pump a small amount of concrete into the most raised edge creating small "cones"
or "ant hills" under the surface. This support is usually only temporary as the voids are not filled, which also
causes cracking problems down the road.
